jQuery code challenge.

Using jQuery only, add to all links with the class "external", the target attribute with the value of "_blank"

var target = "_blank";
$(".external").attr("target");

This is just one variation of what I have4 come up with. My brain hurts and I have watched these videos over and over again and I cant seem to get it right to move on.

This is what you want:

$(".external").attr( "target", "_blank" );

Way this works is the attr method can take 2 arguments,

  1. The first being the attribute. (target)
  2. And the second being the VALUE of that attribute. ("_blank")

wow I feel kind of dumb.. That was my first attempt and for some reason it didn't work, which then sent me down a spiral of trying and searching for things to work. Thank you Lucas, I really appreciate it.
