Courses Plus Student 10,009 PointsJquery, Javascript or Php Which first?
I'm jumping off the wordpress development track to introduce myself to the above languages. Which is recommended to begin in building a learning foundation after HTML and CSS?
Thanks for your insight.

However, if you are interested in making some WordPress sites focus on PHP first.
Have fun programming, -Luke

31,709 PointsLike Luke said, it depends on where you want to focus, but at the end of the day you are going to need to learn both if your want to use WordPress. jQuery/JS will help you make your sites a little more flashier, while PHP will allow you to add more functionality to your site. Either way, I would recommend pick on and finishing it before you start the other. Best of luck.

Courses Plus Student 10,009 PointsWell, it's not that I want to focus mainly on Wordpress but my partner is a Wordpress guy. So in order to share the load a bit I'd like to learn some of the needed code. My ultimate goal is to do front end development so I know javascript and jquery are a needed asset. Because I am so new at this I wasn't sure if there was a logical process in learning the code.
Thank you for the input!

13,564 PointsYou say your partner is a Wordpress guy; does that mean you will be developing mostly Wordpress sites? If so then I would definitely recommend PHP for you to learn. Otherwise the choice is yours to make really and it depends on what you want to achieve.

Courses Plus Student 10,009 PointsYes, and no Luke. I eventually want to branch out from Wordpress, but for now it's the bread and butter of the operation so to speak. I love the Sass and compass I learned and am hoping to use those skills too. Thank you Luke. I appreciate the direction.

13,564 PointsIf WordPress is the thing you and your partner are focusing on at the moment, Robyn, I would definitely suggest learning PHP before anything else!
Best of luck with your programming. -Luke

Based on what you've said, those are all good choices. On Treehouse, you could quickly complete the PHP Basics course, then try a more "task-oriented" course like jQuery.

Courses Plus Student 34,935 PointsRobyn, you'll have to provide some context--mainly, what are your goals? Otherwise, the answer is "it doesn't matter where you start".
