Just a Quick Thanks (No Question)

I was wary about doing it... even saved it until the end...

But, I'm a little over half way through the Java Track and I'm very impressed. I admit, I may be finding it a bit easier because I've done many other languages first, but Java just seems to 'click' with me! As much of a paradox as this may sound... once you get past its complexity, it's really very straightforward. I'm definitely going to be sticking with this one for a while... sorry Ruby. :)

And a huge Thank-You to Craig Dennis for make the lessons so engaging and interesting. You're doing an amazing job with this track... so... Thank-you. :smiley:

Nah, I think you'll be fine. There were some videos I watched twice... once just to watch and listen, then 'rewind' to watch and code along. Java is complex, but... it just seems to all come together as you move along. I admit, some things still are a bit confusing, but the documentation is great.

Give it a shot, if you're like me, you'll be oddly surprised at how intriguing it really is. :smiley:

That's great to hear Jason Anders , I too am in a mission to find a back-end language that just "clicks". I'd be interested to know what languages you've studied prior to Java.

Hey Julian Gutierrez,

I started with Python, but quickly realized that Python was not for me. I don't know why... I just didn't enjoy it, and really couldn't get my head around it. Though I did finish the track and even tried Django, I knew that Python is a definite no for me. I then did the Ruby track, and we got along much better.

I switched to PHP and stayed there for a while (and enjoyed it)... even ventured a little into WordPress.

More recently (the past few months), I've been doing Ruby on Rails and found myself really enjoying it. It was a couple weeks ago, though, I decided to give Java a shot (even just to have the basics under my belt) and was oddly intrigued. So, like I mentioned, I think I'll be sticking with Java for a while.

Ideally, I think I would like to work in Java and/or Rails for sure, and maybe PHP. I'm finding it hard to narrow it down to just one. Lol. :)

I love posts like these too! Glad to hear it's sinking in! Java is weird like that, it's too verbose and there's a lot to learn. It's really verbose and it explains everything once you get it, no surprises!
