Hello Everyone!
I just discovered Treehouse about a week ago, and so far (though only 2 classes deep) it seems absolutely great.
I clicked on the forum, and it is teeming with activity, and no BS questions or answers. The job postings astounded me as well.
I would be very interested in how all of you are doing since you have joined Treehouse. How much have you learned, retained, and now, after going through the motions here, have you landed a job? Are you running your own business?
I appreciate everyone's input in this topic. I look forward to the responses!

6,041 PointsI joined treehouse back in October and I'm incredibly glad that I did.
When I first started I knew absolutely nothing about web development or any sort of coding. Compared to the other tutorials/sites I had tried to learn from, Treehouse was fun, paced just right, and made the learning quite enjoyable. The videos here provide a really great foundation to learn off of.
I'm only in high school so I haven't founded a real business or looked for a job, but I learned enough to start my own website a few months ago that lists minecraft servers, minecraftserverland.com (I know the design is horrible and I'm planning to do a complete redesign now that I know much more, but the functionality is all there.) Its now making a little over $1000 a month which I had previously never even dreamed of. Treehouse got me interested in both web development and business. Without treehouse, I would still be using my freetime by playing video games or watching tv or doing something else unproductive. Thanks treehouse :)

414 PointsMatthew, when you first finished the web development tutorials, did you feel stuck? I just finished, and I feel as if I know the basics, and I surely know a lot more than when I started, but I still find my self googling and searching around for simple code. Is this normal?

1,769 PointsHi Matthew, glad to hear that Treehouse has been very useful for you. I checked out your site. I like how clear and simple it is. Wondering what about the site makes you money? I didn't see any ads or anything to purchase.

The ads actually are just blending in, there are 2 banner ads which say ...

6,041 PointsYeah there are a few ads on the site, and we also sponsor 5 servers a month (Put them on the homepage) which servers bid for. They can also pay to upgrade their server and we give them a few benefits.

6,041 PointsPeter, I still google around for code all the time thats perfectly normal :) I would suggest you start working on a personal site or on some other site you have an idea for. That way, you can keep building it up little by little as you learn and you won't feel as stuck anymore, because you'll be able to see your progression. For me, making a website remotivated me. I found myself learning code to implement specific ideas I had, instead of just learning for the sake of learning.
