5,555 PointsJust turned down a Job for training @ Treehouse
I got an offer to join a companies 16-week unpaid training + 4-week $45-day internship program with a guaranteed position upon completion. Also they would charge 25K for leaving the company < 2 years.
Did I just lose a guaranteed job I should have taken?
Sorry if this isn't the right place for this question.

Yeah, you didn't lose much.
Here's a translation of your job description:
- 16 Weeks Unpaid Internship - Free Demo and reduced training costs
- 4 Weeks @ $45/day - Cheap Extended Demo and no unemployment considerations
- Two Year "Early Quitter" Penalty - Indentured service for donating your work and training yourself the first three months. You'll take what pay we give you, and you'll like it.
Don't give in. If you're going to work for free, do it for your own benefit and build a portfolio or something.

Courses Plus Student 7,323 PointsAny offer that involves threatening to charge you $25k for trying to escape up front is probably something you should avoid.

2,930 PointsI would have done the same, having to pay that much to quit is a red flag for me.

5,555 PointsThat pretty much describes the situation. I am glad to hear someone else say it.
