Learning Android

Hi Guys,

I was wondering what if you've completed all the android courses on ThreeHouse and understand everything in this courses. What kind of android developer are you at this point? Do you know the basics of android development or more? And what do you suggest me to do next with android development to become a master developer?

To master Android there is just one thing to do, not just in Android but any platform: CODE CODE CODE. Practice more and be creative. I have just started Android Development but have been into other platforms and the more I code the better I become. I dont think there is a master developer. Just create what you want to, it will bring you all the glory and satisfaction.

Hey Carl,

I have to agree with Kshitij. Everything I have done to learn to code it all comes down to researching and banging your head against the wall by trying to actually make something. You can read every coding book and watch every video but until you actually sit down in front of the editor and start typing you won't make any progress. By the end you will have a crappy version that kinda works of what you envisioned but you will have learned a lot. The next project you do will come out much better each time.

As for the Tree House Android Courses.. I am almost complete and I would say this.. The tutorials are a little out of date and you will find points of frustration because the tutorial is different than the current editors/version of Android. However, if you search the forms you will find that someone has already asked the question (It may even be my post because I got lost a lot!). You will get it working and the struggle sucks, you will curse Tree House for out of date tutorials but then you will realize that Android is moving so fast its impossible to keep the videos 100% up to date and the struggle you just went through made you learn to become a better programmer. Something that really helped me is instead of trying to do the whole course in a day, do it 30 minutes a day and break it down into bite sized chunks.

Before I started with Tree House I was completely in the dark and now I feel like I have the tools and insight I need to go Google, search around and struggle through enough to build something. I may not be a master but it got me started to the point were I can.. code code code as Kshitij said. Before I didn't have the ability to even practice because I didn't know where to start. Now I feel like I can at least fumble around and learn on my own.

Hope that helps!
