Hi guys !
I'm currently doing the course to learn swift, because I have an idea to make a really cool app, and I want to try to make it myself. ( also because I can't afford paying a pro..)
I feel like I want to learn how to drive a cool car, but I'm only learning how a tire grips to the road, and how the piston of a diesel engine functions. useful things to know, but i still don't know what pedal does what, and how to use my steering wheel
I don't really understand how all this coding will be applied, and how and where I'll be able to start actually making an app.
am i just lacking patience? or is there a picture that i am not yet visualising?
i'd like your thoughts and advices on this subject. Thanks!

14,575 PointsHey:
Well, let me give you a small story of why I started here.
Like you, I also had a great idea of creating an app, this app has a lot of potential as I am sure yours too. But the app that I want to create is very expensive if a professional company does it. So I started to look for alternatives, and just decided to learn how to code. Not only because I wanted to create my own app, but because I have always been interested in coding. Which by the way, I have never done. No coding experience ever.
I started about 7 months ago here at teamtreehouse, and I have advance greatly, to the point where I was able to create 2 applications for iOS. Which one of them has been downloaded by more than 300 people, and the other one is in process of evaluation in the app store.
With this said, you should have a bit more patience, you may not find ALL the answers here about your own personal goal, but Google, and stackoverflow may be your upcoming best friends.
I consider that I have advanced a lot, thanks to the courses, and community here at treehouse, which have given me the opportunity to become a moderator, and help answer questions to students like you AND me.
If you want to check one of the apps I created, you can look at it here, PAX+. It may not be the best design, but I am not a graphic designer lol, I do the brains of the app.
Hopefully you find my story interesting enough to continue with your goal here at treehouse.
Good luck, and see you soon.

6,820 Pointsthanks for your input guys. the courses are great here at treehouse, I'm really happy i found this place !! :-)
i'm only at the very start, and so I do find it a bit overwhelming sometimes, especially linking the learning process to practical application! :)
