Looking for Free CMS

HI, I'm looking for a free easy to use CMS for a clients existing .com site and wondering has anyone come across www.freecms.com. I can't find anything on the web to do a background check on them or has anyone got any good ideas for an alternative option, any help would be great, thanks.

What is the client wanting to do? Just text edits? Or upload images, create new pages, run a blog etc?

WordPress is probably the most popular free CMS (though it has really grown into that from its origins as a blogging platform). It has a very large community and there are tutorials for it on Treehouse.

Is there a particular reason it has to be free? The option you linked to is actually $15/month if you want all the features.

I usually use Perch if I am wanting to easily add a CMS into an existing site. It has a one time £50 fee that includes support for life. It is extremely user friendly for the client and straightforward to set up and there are lots of addons to extend functionality.

Use wordpress, there are a couple of good tutorials here already.

Thanks for the feedback, its for a small business that wanted their menu online www.samchans.com, so when I finished making the site they asked for the CMS to be added on, its my first site and I never heard of CMS until then so I'm looking for a quick fix. Will try the Wordpress option for the next project I get but don't want to re-code it all over again. The Perch one time fee sounds very tempting will look into it, thanks again.

Hi Richard,

I agree with Tom Bedford entirely so +rep to him. Perch is a great and really simple CMS. It's really easy to add to a site, and if the client is wanting to add text to their site (which they are in your menu site) they will find Perch really easy.

The only downside is it costs $79 but in my opinion thats well worth it :D

Thanks
