17,365 PointsYou'll definitely need to learn some Javascript/jQuery to go along with HTML and CSS. JS is part of the trifecta of web technologies and deals with behavior of a site. You don't need to be fluent in it like the other two but the more you know, the better.
Another language to have some knowledge of (but not required) is PHP. PHP is a popular server side programming language used for many sites including Wordpress. I see job ads all the time that say, "Knowledge of Wordpress is a plus."
If you don't have a lot of portfolio material, make fake websites of all types! It can be anything, responsive, mobile, interactive, simple, business sites etc, anything to show off your skills. Also, any work you've done outside of class work and Treehouse is a big plus. Employers like to see you do work outside of instruction and apply those practices in the real world. Play off your strengths and never mention any weaknesses you have of yourself or a project unless it's brought up, in that case, be honest.
When constructing a portfolio, be sure it's medium specific. In other words, if you do video work, don't mix your video work with web work if you're applying for a web job. Employers don't care that much to see other work that doesn't pertain to the job ad.
One last thing I'll suggest, look at various web designer applications. See what employers are looking for specifically and adapt yourself to it. Find the application for your dream job and strive to meet all of the requires at some point.
Sorry for the novel. I know this seems like a lot but if you keep up with Treehouse and continue to practice the stuff above, you'll be fine.

Courses Plus Student 1,186 Pointsyeah thank you for the help. Im not doing the coding right now. Maybe I will be good just going for a graphic and web design position. Im only good at html and css and the design tools like photoshop, illustrator. I mainly use wordpress for my sites and edit the css. My strengths are in art and developing isn't my interest right now.
