Main.storyboard view size

When I click on Main.storyboard, the Interface Builder view size is different than the size of my iOS simulator, making it difficult to place objects, and to follow along with Amit's videos.

When I try to center a text label, it appears running off right side of the simulator. The interface builder seems too large for the simulated screen.

I created a new Xcode project altogether, just to make sure it was not a setting that I had indadvertedly changed. I have this problem with default Xcode 6.0.1 settings.

in the upper left of Xcode, "iPhone 6" is selected in the toolbar. In my iPhone simulator, iPhone 6 is the selected device. In the bottom center of the interface builder view area "wAny wAny" is displayed, and if I click on this, it says "Base Values for all layouts" is selected."

What am I doing wrong?

Joe it sounds like you have size classes enabled. In case you don't know what size classes are then they are a new feature in Xcode 6 that helps development with multiple screen sizes for example iPhone and iPad.

To turn off size classes go to main.storyboard and in the utilities panel under the first icon or the file inspector go to the section that says "Interface Builder Document" then uncheck the box that says "Use Size Classes". Then Xcode will warn you that you're about to disable size classes. Make sure that "Keep size class data for" is set to iPhone then click disable size classes.

That was it! Thank You!
