Any answers as to why this is. I can not seem to find what I am missing. const name = prompt ("what is your name?"); let message = "Hello " + name + ". Welcome to my music site. "; message += "i am so happy you came by, "; message += name; message += ". Feel free to come back"; console.log(message);

any time i bring the += into the code I get this error

This code seems to work just fine as it is. Did you perhaps have an extra "let" in there somewhere when you got the error?
