Python Python Collections (Retired) Dictionaries Word Count

my function doesn't seem to be spotted by the software. THe error just says "where's 'word_count()'?

I can't tell why it can't find my function. Like it's misspelled, or commented out or something? Very strange. I tried reloading the page.

word_count.py
# E.g. word_count("I am that I am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'am': 2, 'that': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
# Using .split() on the sentence will give you a list of words.
# In a for loop of that list, you'll have a word that you can
# check for inclusion in the dict (with "if word in dict"-style syntax).
# Or add it to the dict with something like word_dict[word] = 1.
def word_count(words):
  occurences = {}
  word_list = words.lower().split(" ")
  for word in wordlist:
    if word in occurences:
      occurences[word] += 1
    else:
      occurences[word] = 1
  return occurences

I figured it out, and this might be useful to someone else. If there is another error (in this case "wordlist" in the for loop is not defined) it doesn't even load the function, but the error that it can't find the function is confusing. The error should be "whoops, some variable is not defined!". The error doesn't map with the actual python error very well.

kind of a confusing error message that it gives you, but I think your only problem is that you changed your naming convention for word_list in your for loop
