My next step? What do?

I just finished the introduction track, basically breaking down html, css, and java. My end game is to learn php but im curious as to how important it is to be fluent in html, css, and java when working with php. I would assume it's pretty important so should i keep on with front end development or just skip it and jump to php?

It really is just up to you. If you like Html, css and javascript you can continue learning it or if you are curious with learning php you could learn that too. What I did when I first got on treehouse is I learned many different things, and I just found that doing it that way might expand your knowledge of programming.

Good luck and happy coding!

Hey Nicholas,

If PHP is your end-goal, I would personally stick with the Front-End Development track. How important are those 3 to PHP is a tricky question to answer. There will be some situations where extensive knowledge is needed and some where only the basics are needed.

Personally, I think that you should finish the Front-End Development before the PHP track (and I'm sure there are other who will disagree). I think you will excel at PHP much easier going in with that Front-End knowledge.

In the end, it will be up to you and what you feel comfortable with. You could give the PHP Basics course a go and see if you feel more Front-End Development would be beneficial... there's no rule saying you can't go back-and-forth.
