My valid SASS is failing, but the link is purple in Chrome.

The Sass is valid, the results are correct but it fails to pass the test with error message.

Jeremy,

A few things are happening here that are making your example fail.

  • The question is explicitly asking you to have a div with the class of footer
  • The exception isn't on the > a but rather the main links
  • You don't need to further nest the ampersand inside the footer. You can put it with the .footer.
p {
  a {
    color: red;
    div.footer & { color: purple; }
  }

  > a {
    color: blue;
    &:hover { opacity: 0.5 }
  }
}

Thanks Tim, exactly what I was after. Sorry about the nested footer & selector, that was just a result of the attempt to solve the problem, initially I had it as a single selector (I promise! :P).

I had tried my exemption under the a {} rule, but it was overridden by the > a {} rule from purple to blue, so I moved it down below > a {} to prevent this
