General Discussion

My version of the jQuery drawing application, with neat CSS animations.

I wanted to share my remake of the jQuery drawing application on Andrew Chalkley's course.

Check it out on CodePen.io (also in editor view if you'd like)

I really liked working on the original app, so I decided to go out and rewrite it. My main goal was to brush up on all the skill's I've learned so far and test them out. For this iteration, I chose to not look at the original project for reference.

I learned a lot! I gained a much better grasp on CSS along with cross-browser differences. jQuery was fun to practice with as well, and I've even learned a few new useful methods.

I'm really glad I spent a couple days really pushing to learn how to do cool new things with this app. The only thing I tried and decided to stop on was customizing the range inputs. Even with prebuilt inputs, the cross-browser differences were out of control. I'd only manage to get them working okay in Firefox and Chrome, but not IE/Edge! I imagine it's better to rely on an actual framework for this sort of thing.

Overall it was a very useful experience and I can't wait to continue practicing on my own apps.
