You have your closing Unordered List tag (</ul>) in the wrong location. You have it after your first list item (number-01.jpg)

The closing ul tag needs to go above the closing section tag.

Also,

In your code above you are missing the closing tags of:

footer div body html

I'm starting a new project again, my web page still don't work my background color won't show up.

this my only line on CSS. body { background-color: orange; }

and this HTML ( I checked at html validator checker and correct) <!DOCTYPE html>

<html> <head> <meta charset="utf-8"> <title>Bee Priola | Chef/Web Designer</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/normalize.css"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/main.css"> </head> <body> <header> <a href="index.html"> <h1>Bee Priola</h1> <h2>Chef/Web Designer</h2> </a> <nav> <ul> <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li> <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li> <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li> </ul> </nav> </header> <section> <ul> <li> <a href="img/IMG_3118.jpg"> <img src="img/IMG_3118.jpg" alt=""> <p>Organic Raw Recipes.</p> </a> </li> <li> <a href="img/IMG_1755.jpg"> <img src="img/IMG_1755.jpg" alt=""> <p>Organic Main Course Recipes.</p> </a> </li> <li> <a href="img/IMG_1408a.jpg"> <img src="img/IMG_1408a.jpg" alt=""> <p>Organic Raw Dessert Recipes.</p> </a> </li> <li> <a href="img/IMG_0860.jpg"> <img src="img/IMG_0860.jpg" alt=""> <p>Organic Sweet Recipes.</p> </a> </li> <li> <a href="img/IMG_1466.jpg"> <img src="img/IMG_1466.jpg" alt=""> <p>Homemade Bread Recipes.</p> </a> </li> </ul> </section> </body> <footer> <a href="http://twitter.com/saszybee"><img src="img/twitter-wrap.png" alt="Twitter logo"></a> <a href="http://facebook.com/phannawadeepriola"><img src="img/facebook-wrap.png" alt="Facebook logo"></a> <a href="http://instagram.com/sazybee"><img src="img/instagram.png" alt="Instagram logo"></a>

works for me. make sure your css file is in the correct folder.

index.html should be on the root.
