JavaScript JavaScript Loops, Arrays and Objects Simplify Repetitive Tasks with Loops A Closer Look At Loop Conditions

Need help on how to write this loop?

The code in app.js just opens a prompt, asks for a password, and writes to the document. Something is missing. Add a while loop, so that a prompt keeps appearing until the user types "sesame" into the prompt.

app.js
var secret = prompt("What is the secret password?");
var secretAnswer = 'sesame'
while ( ) {

}

document.write("You know the secret password. Welcome.");
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
  <meta charset="utf-8">
  <title>JavaScript Loops</title>
</head>
<body>
<script src="app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

var secret = prompt("What is the secret password?");
var secretAnswer = 'sesame';
while (secret != secretAnswer) {
  secret = prompt("What is the secret password?");
}

document.write("You know the secret password. Welcome.");

This works. Run it here

Hi Emmanuel,

A while loop needs to have a condition put in place to check if the answer the user enters is the one in the secretAnswer. Please see: http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_loop_while.asp So basically while the answer received from the user is different you would want to prompt him back to enter the password and if it is the secretAnswer to move to past the while loop.

Thank you, Adrian

This should be the code:

var secret;

while (secret !== "sesame") { secret = prompt("What is the secret password?"); }
