Java Java Objects (Retired) Harnessing the Power of Objects Handling Exceptions

Need help to catch Exception

Could you please someone help to run this exception handling?

Main.java
public class Main {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        GoKart kart = new GoKart("yellow");
        if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
          System.out.println("The battery is empty");
        }
        kart.drive(2);

      try {
        kart.drive(20);
      } catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
        System.out.printf("Erros was: %s\n", iae.getMessage());
      }
    }
}

Hi there,

You need to put the try|catch block around the existing code, not call the method again.

The call to the drive() method will throw the error, so wrap the handling of that error around the drive(2); line:

      try {
        kart.drive(2);
      } catch (IllegalArgumentException iae) {
        System.out.printf(iae.getMessage());
      }

That should work for you.

Steve.

Thanks Steve!

No problem! :-)
