Need help with regex!

I am struggling with regex.

Why is the print(contacts) returning None?

When I separate the two variables and print them separately (print(email)) and print(phone)), it works.

Any help would be much appreciated!

import re

string = '''Love, Kenneth, kenneth+challenge@teamtreehouse.com, 555-555-5555, @kennethlove
Chalkley, Andrew, andrew@teamtreehouse.co.uk, 555-555-5556, @chalkers
McFarland, Dave, dave.mcfarland@teamtreehouse.com, 555-555-5557, @davemcfarland
Kesten, Joy, joy@teamtreehouse.com, 555-555-5558, @joykesten'''

contacts = re.search(r'(?P<email>[-\w\d.+]+@[-\w\d.]+)(?P<phone>\d{3}-\d{3}-\d{4}?)', string)
email = re.search(r'[-\w\d.+]+@[-\w\d.]+', string)
phone = re.search(r'\d{3}-\d{3}-\d{4}?', string)

Great question! In order for the combined regex to match, all characters in the string have to be consumed by the pattern.

What is consuming the comma and space between the two groups?

Post back if you need more help. Good luck!!!
