General Discussion

Need more projects to break up long deep dives.

Getting through a learning adventure is very doable. However, by the end do you really feel like you've remembered it all? I know after finishing up the CSS deep dive I could barely remember all the new CSS i'd learned. The next project only covered responsive web design briefly, and then the course jumps right back into another long haul of straight video tutorials (programming and javascript). Much of the tutorials are also followed by quizzes instead of practical use of the learned code.

How are you able to retain what you've learned? I've been looking for any side projects to help me remember the stuff I'm learning, however it would be excellent if Team Tree House provided those projects. People learn by doing, not by watching and test taking. Will Team Tree House be implementing a more project based learning system any time soon?

I agree each and every "dot and letter" of this post and I would also like Team Treehouse to give more practice projects whether imaginary or clones of already present sites.

I agree and would love to see this as well. I experienced the same thing with the CSS deep dive. I had to start keeping a cliff's notes of all the selectors and pseudo-elements/classes that were being described so I could remember them later.

A comprehensive project, or set of projects, after each Deep Dive would be great.

It would be very nice to have a whole separate category of more intensive code challenge/projects. Some could recap entire deep dives (like the CSS one), while others could cover two or more categories. I feel these should not be directly tied in to lessons but exist independently for those who want to challenge themselves.

Great Idea!

I think that even completing small projects could help people retain more information that they have learned in the learning adventures..

they don't necessarily have to be complex projects because once you complete one, you'll be able to reuse your code and branch off and come up with new ideas.

this is a good idea though because i know once i get far enough down the line i have trouble remembering some of methods and classes from the earlier videos and code challenges.
