2,054 PointsNew Course Request: Would love a course on Cocos2d (maybe 2d-Swift).
It's quite popular but not much out documentation out there and I need to learn it. I learn a lot of you all so would love to see a course on this. Can you make it happen?

2,054 PointsI was referring to the open source game framework for building 2d games. The programming can be done in Swift or Objective C that I'm interested in. They have it for Python & JS too but that's not for me. It also has a toolkit for helping to build the UI or animation.
I think it would be pretty useful to see a course on this. Especially since last time I checked most of the tutorials on this were in Chinese.

Treehouse has a course on mobile game design and mobile game programming with Sprite Kit in Objective-C. It follows a 2D Casual game called Space Cat, where you defend your planet from space dogs.
If you're interested in game programming, I highly recommend Unity, as you can do both 2D and 3D with it and its a full completely free game studio.

7,369 PointsHi, can you make apps ? just curious
Nick Janes
5,487 PointsYes I can make apps. Games primarily. I really enjoy it and I've made a few, but I haven't released anything yet. The biggest problem is the art. I don't have an illustrator to do the art, and my art can be kind of ugly. I might do pixel art! I think that looks great. I'm learning Unity now, but I can program it through xCode with Sprite Kit pretty well.

7,369 PointsWow congratulations! :D I'm 17 1/2 and i started to learn about when I was 17. Mainly I'm interested in apps too but uh in 6months i won't have IMac so I decided to switch on Web and nike wp themes since it would be enough to live alone. How long did it take you to understand it and make your own game?

5,487 PointsI started programming around the age of 14 with Minecraft modding and Java. I went to a summer camp on programming iOS apps this summer at the age of 15 1/2. I've been doing a lot of programming since. I got a new computer last Christmas and I chose an iMac so I could do iOS apps haha. I've been programming iOS apps for about 6 months now and I'm pretty confident in Objective-C and Swift. We should talk more, but you should email me at flyingturtle98@gmail.com. Treehouse needs like, a more social media kind of thing, so we can add friends and message each other and get in contact with other developers.

2,054 PointsYou guys are sideswiping the thread please take this to another discussion. And Cocos2d is open source. Unity has a high licensing cost.
Nick Janes
5,487 PointsIf you would have looked at the messages, you'd see that these were from 3 days ago and we had already switched to email. And you can make and sell games from Unity for free. You only have to pay for it if you're making over 100K a year, to which point you could easily afford it.

7,089 PointsAlso Unity uses JavaScript as one of it's languages so learning JavaScript here would help you with that.
Nick Janes
5,487 PointsJavaScript, C#, or Boo. My personal choice would be C#.
