Newest version of WordPress forces default Title and Editor into custom pages and custom posts. How can I remove them?

I'm not recreating the same portfolio page as the instructor, but rather following along and applying newfound knowledge by integrating my own static page into wordpress. So far I've managed to deal with problems on the way, that are unrelated to the course's content.

But this one is related, so I ask for help... Both custom pages and custom posts I created and assigned custom fields to, display the default wordpress editor (title and content), with custom fields appearing under them. How can I remove that default editor? Hiding checkboxes in custom fileds settings do nothing. I check them all and yet everything is still there.
