Hi Katrina. Check your build.gradle (Module:app) file and make sure you have AppCompat added to your dependencies. It should look like this:

dependencies {
    // other dependencies you may have
    implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0'
}

The version number will depend on the compileSdkVersion you have at the top of the file (here, it would be 28).
