Is that okay, or am i missing some steps in installations?

Are you able to run/start your mongod instance and Mongo Shell?
What response to you get when you run the command show dbs from the Mongo Shell? If you are using the mongoBasics collection, what response do you get when you run a show collections in the Mongo Shell?

Treehouse TeacherGreat! If you are able to access that information inside the Mongo Shell and switch to the mongoBasics collection everything seems to be running okay.
Have you loaded any data into the database? I believe the method the course uses is to use the load() method from inside the Mongo Shell. If you haven't done that it would make sense that your collection sizes are 0 and that you don't have any indexes.
If you post what you have tried to add to your database, or the steps you have taken in the course, it will help a bit to diagnose any issues.
