JavaScript Node.js Basics 2017 Introduction to Node.js Hello World

"node -v" doesn't work!!

So after installing node i try to run "node -v" in the powershell but i get this message in return:

node : The term 'node' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again. At line:1 char:1

  • node -v
  • ~~~~
    • CategoryInfo : ObjectNotFound: (node:String) [], CommandNotFoundException
    • FullyQualifiedErrorId : CommandNotFoundException

Should I add the node directory to my path?

I think this and other tutorial lacks lots of information when it comes to installing things on your own computer and you can't expect us to use the Workspace forever..

Please download again and install npm as well. To ensure Node.js has been installed, run node -v in your terminal - you should get something like "latest version".

If it is soothing, then MongoDB will be worse at the beginning :D

Well, that didn't help at all. Windows doesn't add new programs to path directly I presume. But why aren't teamtreehouse helping more with this. setting up environments is usually a lot more complicated and important then writing "Hello World!"
