iOS Object-Oriented Swift Complex Data Structures Custom Initializers

Not sure what went wrong

struct RGBColor { let red: Double let green: Double let blue: Double let alpha: Double

let description: String

// Add your code below

init(red : Double, green: Double, blue: Double, alpha: Double, description: String){
    self.red = 86.0
    self.green = 191.0
    self.blue = 131.0
    self.alpha = 1.0

// self.red = red // self.green = green // self.blue = blue // self.alpha = alpha self.description = "red: (red), green: (green), blue: (blue), alpha: (alpha)" // self.description = description }

func describe() -> [RGBColor] {
    let result = [RGBColor]()
    return result
}

}

let stuff = RGBColor(red: 86.0, green: 191.0, blue: 131.0, alpha: 1.0, description: "")

  1. description should not be passed in as an argument to the initializer.
  2. The numbers are just an example. The bit in code is wrong, but the stuff you wrote underneath with the slashes is correct there.
  3. You can't initialize self.description twice.
  4. String interpolation uses a backslash followed by parenthesis: "string (notAString) string"
  5. I don't know where you got that func "describe" from, but it's not mentioned in the task.

This is my solution: Please only use it if you are really stumped

struct RGBColor {
  let red: Double
  let green: Double
  let blue: Double
  let alpha: Double

  let description: String

  // Add your code below

  init(red: Double, green: Double, blue: Double, alpha: Double) {
    self.red = red
    self.green = green
    self.blue = blue
    self.alpha = alpha

    //self isn't necessary here because there is no constant for the compiler to confuse it with.
    description = "red: \(red), green: \(green), blue: \(blue), alpha: \(alpha)"
  }
}
