Python Python Collections (2016, retired 2019) Dungeon Game Line endings

Not sure whats wrong with my code here.. any help would be great!

OK, here's a...weird...set of tiles. I need you to loop through TILES and print out each item. Print each item on the same line unless the item is a double pipe (||). In that case, instead of printing the item, print a new line (\n). Use the end argument to print() to control whether things print on a new line or not.

mapping.py
TILES = ('-', ' ', '-', ' ', '-', '||',
         '_', '|', '_', '|', '_', '|', '||',
         '&', ' ', '_', ' ', '||',
         ' ', ' ', ' ', '^', ' ', '||'
)

for x in TILES:
    if x == "||"
        print("")
    else:
        output = x
    print(output)

It looks like you have a few issues:

  • you forgot the colon (:) at the end of your if line
  • if you intended that last print to be part of the else, it needs to be indented one more stop.
  • you'll need to add something to "ordinary" print statement to prevent it from adding a newline automatically
