iOS Build a Weather App with Swift (Retired) Data Modeling With Structures Customizing Dates

Not sure why this is not working. Or I don't understand the question.

I am trying to understand what this exercise wants me to do. It says to create na instance of dateFormatter and set it to Short Style but how then do I make the date of medium style since I am using the instance of dateFormatter and using the dateFormatter.stringFromDate method that changes the dateOfBirth NSDate to a string... where in the code can I apply the Medium style...

date_formatter.swift
import Foundation
let secondsSinceBirth = NSTimeInterval(1200000000)
var dateOfBirth = NSDate(timeIntervalSince1970: secondsSinceBirth)

let dateFormatter = NSDateFormatter()
dateFormatter.timeStyle = .ShortStyle

let stringDate = dateFormatter.stringFromDate(dateOfBirth)

Hi Vinod Sirimalle,

We can set the date style for the NSDateFormatter instance exactly the same way we set the style for the timeStyle property, instead we need to use the dateStyle property which also accepts an enum.

dateFormatter.dateStyle = .MediumStyle

Happy coding!

LOL wow for some reason I thought they were referring to the same thing. Okay I feel dumb now. Thanks!

Happens to a lot of us, thankfully we can help each other :smile:
