Not understanding what you mean by "intent"

I don't think i am following what direction i should be taking the answer to this question. Should this code not compile here and maintain the intent of the code?:

using System;

namespace Treehouse.CodeChallenges { class Program { static void Main() {
input = Console.ReadLine(); string output = "";

        if (input == "quit")
        {
            output = "Goodbye.";
        }
        else
        {
            output = "You entered " + input + ".";
        }

        Console.WriteLine(output);
    }
}

}

You're good in regards to "intent".

But it looks like you have a syntax error, you're using input before declaring it.

The "Preview" button will show you the compiler output, it can be very handy for identifying errors.
