If your computer can handle Xcode 4.6 I would say there is no reason not to start with the Objective-C Basics course until you can upgrade to a new Mac. However if you can't get above Xcode 3.x I would just hold off. There have been significant changes to the objective-c language itself since the days of Xcode 3.x. However most of the changes from Xcode 4.6 to 5 have to do with the libraries and frameworks that Apple provides you.

thanks it does Have Xcode 4.6 so what your saying is that can start the course?

I haven't done the 'Objective-C Basics' course but I doubt there is anything in the basics course that isn't in 4.6. Like I said, most of the changes you get with 5.1 are to frameworks. Let's put it this way, anything that I would try to teach someone as the basics can be done in 4.6. I'd say, yes, start the Basics course with 4.6, wait to do the project videos until you have 5.1.
