palindromic primes challenge

I don't understand the feedback message: The $sum variable does not have the correct value. Call the mimic_array_sum function, and store the return value in the $sum variable.

could anyone help'

palindromic_primes.php
<?php

function mimic_array_sum($array) {
  $sum = 0;
  foreach($array as $element) {
    $sum = $sum + $element;
  };
    return $sum;

};

$sum = mimic_array_sum();

$palindromic_primes = array(11, 757, 16361);

?>

This is the code I just used to pass:

<?php

function mimic_array_sum($array) {
  foreach ($array as $value) {
    $x += $value;
  }
  return $x;
}

$palindromic_primes = array(11, 757, 16361);

$sum = mimic_array_sum($palindromic_primes);

echo $sum;

?>

Notice there are no semicolons after the }. The function is called after the array $palindromic_primes is defined.
