I'm not sure why the pdfCheckbox is not showing up in the browser for me. I'm using Firefox. Here's my code:
const $odd = $('a:odd'); const $secureLinks = $('a[href^="https://"]'); const $pdfs = $('a[href$=".pdf"]'); const $pdfCheckbox = $('<label><input type='checkbox'> Allow PDF downloads</label>');
$secureLinks.attr('target', '_blank'); $pdfs.attr('download', true);
$secureLinks.addClass('secure'); $pdfs.addClass('pdf');
$pdfs.on('click', function(event){ //check if checkbox has been checked //if zero checkboxes are checked if ($(':checked').length === 0) { //prevent download of document event.preventDefault(); //alert the user alert('Please check the box to allow PDF downloads.'); }
});
$('#links').append($pdfCheckbox);

231,269 PointsYou have a syntax error caused by using the same type of quote to make a string that includes that type of quote.
There's two easy fixes:
// you can use a different type of quote character to enclose the string:
const $pdfCheckbox = $("<label><input type='checkbox'> Allow PDF downloads</label>");
// or you can "escape" the characters that would otherwise end the string:
const $pdfCheckbox = $('<label><input type=\'checkbox\'> Allow PDF downloads</label>');
When posting code in future, be sure to use Markdown formatting to preserve the code's appearance.
