Please have a look at my website

http://www.tho2.no

I'm pretty new to all this. So would love some tips on how I can improve my page, both layout and design-wise, before I continue on. It's not done by any stretch of imagination.

The hardest part with all this is definitely coming up with a good looking design. Every time I have a look at someone else's webpage, and then look back at mine - I'm not happy at all.

My 'portfolio' is just beautiful images for now. But it's nice to have something there to design around.

Btw - the hover part in my description. The idea is totally borrowed from this guy here: http://www.dig.ital.me. - Thanks

Your web site is nice, I realy liked that when you hover "about you" text it displays important info. Keep that way of desing, don't bother on others sites. We all have that "others is better" effect :-)

You have done a nice job with your website. Is this your first design? If so, keep up the good work! You have a simple design, which is good. Keep in mind these interfaces rely heavily on typography.

Experiment with different fonts and find some to your liking. If you brush up the text and work on some softer tones, you can polish this design up real nice. Perhaps remove the second green arrow by your introduction?

Thank you! :) It's my first website yes. The first of many hopefully.

Really nice tip regarding typography, I'll definitely look into that + check out webpages that rely on that as well. But is it best to use one font-style and go with it , or maybe mix it up? E.g. one font-style for menu and one for headers, and one for text?

Your welcome. You are on the right track. Yes, you can do that. Try to focus on visual hierarchy. Headings can be bold, thin, etc.. You don't have to use the same font for bodies of text but it's nice to keep them similar in style so you aren't breaking the design.

Play around with it, you are the designer after all. Experiment and see what you like. If this is your portfolio you want your website to be personalized to your taste.
