15,518 PointsHey, I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish exactly, but hopefully this helps. The & is used to grab all the parent nodes path, so in the a tag example you provided to do a hover on it you would write
a{
color: red;
&:hover{
color: blue;
}
}
that translates to a:hover and since there is also a p nested above that, it would be p a:hover.
if you had something like
div{
p{
a{
&:hover{
}
}
}
}
it would read as div p a:hover!
