POINTS CHALLENGE!

Okay so I am trying to get motivated after a few months of holidays and general laziness. Here is my challenge and I hope others will join me! I currently have 4,632 points. My goal is to hit 10k points within 1 month of TODAY! That's February 16! Do do this I plan to at least knock out the rest of the Front End Web Developer Track, The Web Designer Track and the Rails Developer track. If I still need more points after that I'll head over to the land of Wordpress and PHP (PHP is the Java of the internet so don't judge me for avoiding it a bit). If I hit my goal of 10k points I will treat myself to a gold membership :) What are your goals? How do you plan to reward yourself?

I didn't mention that my other goal is to get more involved int he forums here. I want to try to help answer at least one question a week :)

Christian Georg Strobl's points video is very motivational!

I haven't started on Rails yet but have seen many people comment on it being challenging, just make sure everything is sinking in. Don't be afraid to take your time and fully understand the topics. If you complete one topic in a month and are really comfortable with it you may find that more useful than "completing" 5 but not having everything sink in.

Good luck!

My Goals are:

  1. Complete my "refresh" on CSS with the newer deep dive (I took the original one ages ago which has now been replaced). I'd like to really get to grips with transitions, transforms & animations and make some demos using them.

  2. Learn more JavaScript. I'm a few sections in and have a much better appreciation for how it works and find reading it fairly straightforward now. The next hurdle is being able to write my own without constantly referencing things.

My Reward is:

Being better at web stuff :)

I already know a fair amount of Rails as I attend the local Rails meetups and am working with a Rails based startup but I'd like to follow the Treehouse lessons to "fill in the gaps."
