What am I doing wrong? I am trying to give the <a> tags in the footer class a different color using the & in Sass. It however is not working.

I put "div" before "footer". You wouldn't have to do this in real life I'm sure, but it passed like that.
div.footer & {
etc...
}

Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Student 11,127 PointsHi Hadiza,
Are you trying to give the a tag in the footer a different colour to the p tag?
In your CSS, you've used >, the direct child selector. Which in your case would select the direct a children of a. But since you only have one a, there are no children, or parents.
The p is a parent of a though. So perhaps you want something along the lines of:
p {
color: red;
> a {
color: blue;
&:hover {
opacity: 0.5;
}
.footer & {
color: purple;
}
}
}
This would make the p text red, the a text nested within the p text blue, then the a on hover would have an opacity of 50%;
Hope that helps,
Ede
