Printing show as part of my shopping list when replicating Kenneth Love's function_list program...

Everything works great except it prints out the SHOW as a list item....what do I need to tweak to make that not happen? Thanks in advance.

Sorry...yeah I guess that would help. D'oh.

shopping_list = []

def show_help(): print("What should we pick up at the store?") print("Enter DONE to stop. Enter HELP for help. Enter SHOW to see your current list.")

def add_to_list(item): shopping_list.append(item) print("Added! List has {} items.".format(len(shopping_list)))

def show_list(): print ("Here's your list: ") for item in shopping_list: print(item)

show_help()

while True: new_item = raw_input("> ") if new_item == 'DONE': break

elif new_item == "HELP":
    show_help()
    continue

elif new_item == "SHOW":
    print ("Here's your list: ")
    for item in shopping_list:
        print(item)
        continue

add_to_list(new_item)
continue

show_list()

You need to de-dent your continue inside the elif new_item == 'SHOW': block. Since it's indented inside the for loop, it doesn't skip the adding part. The continue is effectively doing nothing since it just goes to the next item in the for loop, which would happen already.

Thanks...I was embarrassed and put off checking it for a few days....I re-watched your video and figured it out, as you described. Thank you very much. NJM

Aww, don't be embarrassed! We also make formatting mistakes and get bit by weird loops. The more you practice and build experience, the less this will happen to you. Keep going!
