Problem with my site

You can scroll sideways on my site- the page seems wider than the rest of my stuff. Can I fix this in any way??

https://w.trhou.se/s8s30nhi7a Here's a snapshot to show you guys... thanks for helping :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the reason I'm asking this is because a picture is up next to my header... lol :)

Hi Marisa. I tried to look at this for you, but I can only see the code. I don't think there's a way that we can see the result like you can, therefore we can't see exactly which element is causing the problem. Are you a dropbox user? If so, copy all your folders and files to the public dropbox folder. Right click on the index.html, select copy public url and paste it here.

This probably has to do something with your CSS. I've been quickly checking it but I haven't found the problem yet. It might be a good idea to check it yourself or rewatch the How to Make a Video course. Good luck!

I looked at your CSS and your index.html. I found some things. First, The wrapper element should be before the header element. I didn't see a closing tag for the wrapper. I like to add a comments to my closing div's that way I know what it's closing. When you get a lot of text and code between the opening and closing div's it can be confusing. A comment for html is different than CSS. <!-- closes the wrapper --> The browser doesn't display it. Give the wrapper a % for the width and auto for the margin. The auto will center the wrapper.

wrapper {

width: 90%;
margin: auto;
height: auto;

}

In the nav you don't need the class="selected" in the li item. Are you trying to style the links for visited, hover etc?

You shouldn't need to float the header left. I like to give each different section a solid border and different color while I'm designing. It helps me see what going on. You can delete the borders when you are done. Like header { border: solid black; } nav { border: solid red; }

Start with those suggestions and see what happens.

Aah thankyou so much!! haha... i never looked too closely at it, but i think it may have floated it left it in order of practise because the video told me to so he could show me what it did, but i forgot to delete it.

This helped so much... Thanks again :)

Great!
