Profile Photo help for Responsive Layout Project for Front End Web Developer Techdegree program

So, I know how to make the photo round, that's not an issue. The problem is in the example images they give to make your page look like, there's a darker gray box behind the profile photo, and I can't figure out how to do that. Any thoughts from anyone? That's the last piece of the puzzle and I've been stuck for a bit on it. After I figure that out, I can finish up. Thanks in advance!

I can't look at your link (I get "This project is only accessible to active students enrolled in our Techdegree program."), but just based on your description, it sounds like you might get the effect you want by applying the box-shadow CSS property to your IMG elements or perhaps their containers.

You might start with this and then tweak it to look like the sample:

img { box-shadow: 0 0 0 16px gray; }

Not quite, but I think it's on the right track, I think with some fiddling around I'll have it. I was thinking that was possibly what I wanted, but wasn't sure.
