put something inside the () of toUpperCase()

what will happen when you put something inside the parenthesis of the .toUpperCase method? or what does the parenthesis meant to be? is it meant to put something inside it like in document.write()?

The parentheses are required any time you call (invoke) a method, even if no arguments are being passed. This particular method does not take any arguments, so if you put anything there it will be ignored.
