Python Basics: Challenge Task 1 of 2: I am having trouble solving the this challenge.

Is this in the right direction?

Hi there! Yes, you're on the right track. We use del to delete an item by referencing its index. And we use remove to remove an item given its value. You seem to have jumbled up the idea of value and index here. We want to use del because the challenge requires it. But you're pointing to the index of 8 in the messy list. Given that a list begins with the index of 0, what index does the value 8 occupy? The number 5 is at index 0.
