10,658 PointsQuestions on web hosting..
I am currently working on my first web page for my first client. It is for a VERY small, country veterinarian and doubt it will see much traffic.
To someone who has hosted a site: who has the best prices with the best support?
Are there any pitfalls (hidden costs, etc.) I should look out for beyond the introductory offers?
Thank you.

I've only used two recently, one was 1&1 and the other was Siteground.
1&1 had good pricing but their support is atrocious, responses to emails would take three or four days, sometimes much longer. Telephoning them would always start with at least a twenty minute que to get through to them. Really really bad is all I can say about their support.
Their pricing and the services they offer are good, but I eventually had to leave as I had to weigh this against their poor support.
Siteground on the other hand has fantastic support, it's vary rare I have to wait more than 30 minutes for a responce if I raise a support ticket.
Their pricing is good, and the services they offer are also good.
The links are to their .co.uk sites but both have .com sites.
Hope this helps

13,023 PointsOpenshift is a great site for hosting. You can host up to three free websites with any kind of backend language you can think off. It forces you to use Git and possible have a little bit of Linux knowledge. It can also be a little tricky to connect to a database but once I learned those tricks it has become a valuable resource for my webdesign.
It may be to much for just simple HTML, CSS, and Javascript you could use the resources Milos suggested for that, but as a backend developer Openshift is perfect.

But here are a couple of places I have hosted before and had good luck with in order of price, features and what I feel is good support. list is lowest to highest.
ipage.com <-- quick, cheap, decent support
hostgator <------- a little more expensive than ipage.com but good support
godaddy <------- They get a bad rap but I have never had a problem.
MediaTemple <------ awesome hosting and support..but you're gonna pay for it.
I should add that the above are hosting and domain registration services, ie. design your own and upload type stuff.
