Rails Track or Build a Simple Ruby on Rails Application course

Hey,

I've been working through the Rails track so I can try and get a feel for the ruby language and see what rails is all about. Ive gotten to the part where it start to focus more on the ruby language itself and should build something in the next section.

Would it be better or quicker to simply check out the Build a Simple Ruby on Rails Application first and then come back to the rails track? Or keep on the track and check out the course later?

Thank you for your input

The thing with "Build a Simple Ruby on Rails Application" is that it's an old course and uses old version of Rails (3.2, there are some major differences between Rails 3 and 4), old versions of some gems and Bootstrap. It also uses the built-in test framework, which is not as popular as RSpec. To follow these videos you would have to use Treehouse's dedicated virtual machine for this course OR install older stuff in your development environment OR translate this stuff into newer versions. The Rails Track is more up-to date, uses Rails 4 and newer gems and RSpec for tests.

Thank you, that was very informative. Exactly what I needed to know. I think I'll check it out after finishing up the rails track.
