Raising a ValueError

I can't figure out what i'm doing wrong. Please help!!! I'm gettting a error message. AssertionError. ValueEr not raised

suggestinator.py
def suggest(product_idea):
    return product_idea + "inator"
    if len(product_idea) < 3:
        raise ValueError("Must be atleast 4 characters")

You are so close!

A return statement causes your function to exit so the program is never actually executing your conditional statement.

Try placing return at the end of your code like so:

def suggest(product_idea):
    if len(product_idea) < 3:
        raise ValueError("Must be at least 4 characters")

    return product_idea + "inator"
