General Discussion

Recommended OS X browser? Just started, encountering functionality issues. Is it better to use something besides Chrome?

For example: -- the preview button on my workspace (after Saving) may bring up pre-edit text, -- going to the Next Task brings up a screen with no "Editor" button so the task can't be performed.

Obviously the site is working well for many people, so I'm hoping there's a preferred browser. I have disabled all cookie-filtering and ad-blocking extensions, but no change.

I'm using Chrome. And Firefox Developer Edition. And Safari.

If you are exp. some strange behaviour that just use another one.

I doesn't matter really. I have all of them installed :)

Thanks for your response. Yes, of course, I have them all also, and I will experiment until (hopefully) I get the expected results.

Well...what is the aim of the website? If your website is mostly used by users of mobile devices then of course Chrome and Safari are required. Otherwise I usually use Chrome and IE...IE is still used widely. Some businesses even only test their websites with IE. Especially when their applications are used by other companies/organisations/state institutions they only use IE most of the time.

MY TIP: Lunascape is a browser which can simulate other browsers. It is like "all browsers in one". It can simulate IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

Thanks for your response. I guess I didn't make myself clear. I'm encountering the issues when using the teamtreehouse.com tutorials. I will experiment with other browsers.

Well i also had sometimes issues with Chrome while using treehouse. But usually i only have to restart the browser or the browsertab and everything works fine again. Since the teachers use Chrome too, I guess that Chrome is recommend for treehouse.

Clearing the cache could do the trick.

I am lazy...my browser always clears cache with restart :P

Treehouse recommends that all interactions be performed through Chrome. Firefox is a close second, while IE/Edge tend to be the most... temperamental.

Thanks Jay, I will keep that in mind, as well as clearing the cache when mysteries arise. I am currently doing OK using Firefox just for lessons, with other browsing done in Chrome. I have noticed that in code challenge windows, if I scroll down to the bottom of the code and try to place my cursor in the code, the region is non-enterable. But predictably I can enter the cursor at the top of the code and move it down to edit the bottom region. I have no problem with browser quirks once I see how to overcome them.

Cool, good deal. Regarding the cursor, there is a known bug our devs are looking at that won't let you type in a Code Challenge if the window's width is too narrow (~400px or so). Simply expand the window, and you should get your cursor back :)

:) A simple clear cache button for Chrome will get your blood flowing. Even if you're lazy :)

OK thanks guys, I should have thought of that. I figured the basics of the tutorial app must be functioning well or everybody would be talking about it. So, clearing the cache makes sense.
