Regarding the 'Creating and Appending Detached DOM Elements'

Hello, For the challenge "Creating and Appending Detached DOM Elements", I'm quite confused where to add the button.

I tried here: //A function to show a modal function displayModal(message) { $placeHolder.text(message); $modal.show(); <--------------------------I tried adding the button here } But it didn't work, and when I tried to comment out that line, it didn't affect the outcome at all. What is the purpose of this line: $modal.show(); ???

js/app.js
//Create the Modal
var $modal = $("<div id='modal'></div>");

//Create a button to dismiss modal and add it to modal
var $dismissButton = $("<button>Dismiss</button>");

//Create a placeholder for text in the modal
var $placeHolder = $("<p id='placeHolder'></p>");
$modal.append($placeHolder).append($dismissButton);

//Hide modal when button is pressed
$dismissButton.click(function(){
  $modal.hide(300);
});

$("body").append($modal);

//A function to show a modal
function displayModal(message) {
  $placeHolder.text(message);
  $modal.show();
}

//Show an example modal
displayModal("Hello World!");
index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen" title="no title" charset="utf-8">
    <title>Modal Example</title>
</head>
<body>
    <h1>Modal Example Page</h1>

    <script src="//code.jquery.com/jquery-1.11.0.min.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
    <script src="js/app.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
</body>
</html>

Hey Werner, $model(DOM) is containing the div element and inside the div there is paragraph element. So, $model.show() displaying the added div element at the end of the body and displaying the message within it. All you have to do is just append the button to your div next to paragraph tag. Like This...

$modal.append($dismissButton);
