Reinforcing what I know, through teaching

First, I hope that this post is not in poor taste, or a waste of anyone's time:

Should I teach what I know, or should I learn more before I attempt making video tutorials on web design for beginners? Reinforcing: I feel like I've blasted through a lot; Very confident about most, but somethings, I don't think I am very strong (The question I've missed on a code challenge... Or feeling like I was lucky in a guess).

I am spending a few days, going over where I feel I should be stronger, while putting together tutorials of things I feel strong in. Treehouse is where I'd love to work or become eligible for a job from the Treehouse job board someday, but today, I am trying to just learn in sequence; One step-leading-to-the-next, in hopes of building a stronger foundation. I feel like I am years away from that goal, at the moment, even though I feel strong at HTML/CSS3/Sass basics (I am practicing what I've learned in the Advanced Sass concepts.

I've taken a few days off already, to download transcripts, teacher's notes and videos, take more notes, practice coding, w3c and other sites to learn more..

I want to teach introduction to web design from html to Sass (Where I feel strong). This way, I can have a start on a portfolio and build skill in teaching, adding tutorials as I become stronger at concepts I learn.

I am entering Javascript, and this is really the language I want to master. I have always copied js from the net, to include in pages, but was never able to write javascript. I know I I will, soon, though.

My current goal comes in the form of a dream... To get a job in web design (I love Web design). Would love to use my portfolio to direct students to Treehouse to help me afford Gold Plan. Good idea? Delusions of grandeur? I welcome criticism.

In my personal opinion, I think that it would be wise to teach in the subjects that you feel strong in (such as the ones you have listed).

Thanks, Larry. That is just what I hoped to do. Then add as I learn and become stronger. For instance, If it were not for Treehouse, I probably would not be using Sublime Text 2/3 right now. But, I found, that in Sass, instead of using Scout, I felt that Aptana Studio 3 was awesome for quick integration of the commandline to see the css produced by Sass/Compass watch/ sass --watch. So in my approach, I would demonstrate that as an available option to windows users. or whoever else.

If it weren't for Treehouse, I don't know what any of us would do, honestly.

The idea sounds plausible, and it could end up working out really well for you in the end.
