.remove help

states = [ 'ACTIVE', ['red', 'green', 'blue'], 'CANCELLED', 'FINISHED', 5, ] states.remove(['red', 'green', 'blue'])

Any idea why this doesn't work ?

    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],

]
states.remove(['red', 'green', 'blue'])

solved it ,
