Game Development 3D Art with Maya LT Optimizing the Model Adjusting Edges

removing nGons for tri and quadangulate

Just a question as to 'Why?' you would do this. It looks like it gave the model more edges (on the sides of the arcade cabinet).

I am having the same issue as John, and I have attempted to go back and harden the edges to no avail. To clarify, dividing the cabinet sides into polygons has softened them, so all of the polygons are visible.
