I am not sure how hard this would be to implement in the Treehouse Community but I am seeing a trend that is completely defeating the purpose of the Challenge and Quiz portions of Treehouse.
Challenges and quizzes are meant to reinforce what was taught or shown in the video for whichever language.
The first thing that should never be just given out is the immediate answer(the answer that is going to make the challenge pass by a simple copy/paste). Guidance or links to documentation or a detailed explanation of how or why something works from another point of view is more important knowledge than the "immediate answer".
So I hope we can find a way to implement a better Answer system, maybe with a new Markdown feature would probably be easiest for a "Spoiler" tag? Or maybe just a new system that puts more emphasis on using guides, links, and detailed explanations rather than "immediate answers".
These are just my thoughts. The times when I need to give an immediate answer to point out something, I would like to be able to hide it from plain sight so I don't ruin the challenge for another student. :)

20,881 PointsI've wondered about this, as well. Is there any official guidance from Treehouse on this matter?

This is more of a user issue than an overall issue. I agree that when a user requests help with a problem, the response shouldn't have the answer in it; it defeats the purpose. There are others here like myself that "hints" what should be done to fix the problem and don't just simply divulge the answer. We could put spoiler's in like other boards but while that fixes the initial problem it doesn't fix the overall problem of people just providing the answers. You can't force people to not divulge the answer, and you can't force people to use some sort of spoiler tag to "hide" the answer. Of course people do use these forums to just get the answers, but that defeats the purpose of learning and retention. It's a very good and unique problem to try and solve, but how do you solve a problem that's so human as to stop people from just giving out an answer? It's a good discussion to have and one I would love to be a part of as I would rather have people sticking to providing hints rather than just saying the answer.
Cheers!
